Position Summary:


Works to ensure grounds are safe and presentable at all times in all weather conditions.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensures that all walkways and entrances are free of snow and/or ice
  • Conducts periodic inspections of designated work areas and equipment
  • Performs regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance by mowing turf with riding and push mowers
  • Trims and edges walkways, flowerbeds, and trees
  • Uses blowers, string trimmers, edgers and chainsaws as directed
  • Knowledge of sprinklers operation and maintenance
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Works under immediate supervision
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year grounds and facility maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience operating a truck and trailer preferred
  • Valid driver's license required

Working Conditions:


  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to maintain a standing position
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
  • Must be safety conscious and aware of hazards such as cleaning solutions, needles, glass and faulty equipment to prevent injury to self, patients, visitors and staff
  • Possible exposure to blood and body fluids requiring the use of personal protective equipment
  • Exposure to noises, electrical shock, mechanical hazards, fumes, burns, hazardous chemicals, and infectious wastes
