Job Description
FLSA Classification: Laborer
Overtime Status: Non- Exempt

Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking an Asphalt Plant Maintenance Laborer for our *Haledon Asphalt Plant.

We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 8 hours are worked each day. After a probationary period of sixty (60) days, the employee will be required to join Local #472. Medical/Dental/Vision benefits are provided through Local #472.

Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Daily maintenance of the asphalt plant; greasing of bearings, adjusting belts
• Routine daily check of fuel levels
• Loading out trucks
• Mechanically inclined & ability to successfully climb steps
• Must be willing to labor in areas of need
• General quarry/asphalt and maintenance work
• Must have the ability to repair asphalt plant equipment
• Welding capabilities a plus

Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:

• Asphalt industry related experience considered a plus but not mandatory
• Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks
• Must be able to read, comprehend manuals & directions

Physical Demands:

• Perform all job-related functions at elevated heights (80’)
• Repetitive stooping, bending, crouching as required to perform duties
• Ability to lift/carry at least 50-100 pounds unaccompanied
• Candidate must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Travel: This position is based in Haledon, NJ

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Hours of work will alternate between the day shift (6:00am to 4:00pm) and the night shift (6pm to 5am) Monday through Friday. Saturday work will be required.
• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
• Periodical exposure to high levels of noise, grease & dust
