Haunted Bus Driver
Job description
Good day -
We are Haunted San Diego Ghost Tours, and we are looking for a driver able to work nights with a Class B or higher CDL and a passenger endorsement. Part time. $70 per tour ($23.34 per hour) plus tips.
The Workload This is a simple job for a tour company. You'll be driving either a modified Ford E-350, which seats 14 people and/or a Chevy El Dorado Touring bus seating 24 people. The host will be telling stories at the standy-line as you drive. 33% of the tour is driving, and the other 66% of the tour, you can enjoy downtime as you wait for the guest to do parts of the tour off the bus. Our drivers have found creative ways to unwind during this time, from playing games on their phones to meditating. As long as you don't leave the bus unattended or do anything illegal, you can use this time in any way that works for you.
At our company, we trust our drivers to be their own bosses and won't micromanage you. But if you're interested in moving up in the company, there's even the opportunity to become the director of our fleet. This is an easy, happy, and rewarding job that you'll truly enjoy. Come join our team and meet some amazing people.
Hours, Pay, and TipsYou'll usually have a 7 pm and a 9 pm with occasional 11 pm tours and rarely 5 pm tours. We are open all year round and busiest during June through Oct.
You'll get paid $70 per tour, which breaks down to $23.34 an hour or more for the average tour. A tour is 3 hours due to the setup of the bus and taking it back. However, the more tours you do, you gain an hour since you don't have to set up or take back the bus during those tours. For example, if you worked all three tours, you would be on from 6 pm until just after 1 am - which at $70 per tour (x3 = $210), you would average around $30 an hour.
You can and will get tips, sometimes excellent ones. Tips generally equal how personable you are with the guest. Tips don't always happen, but they definitely can and do. Our driver currently makes around $100 a week in tips.
General ShiftA general shift looks something like this:
1. Go to the A-1 lot in Mission Valley and pick up the bus around 6 pm. Do your pre-trip (we have forms for you to work with).2. Go to a little plaza in Old Town by 6:30. There you will meet the host and onboard the guest.3. You'll then go from Old Town to Sherman Heights (Golden Hill) to downtown and then back to Old Town.4. If there is a 9 pm tour, you return to the Old Town meeting location and repeat, same with if there is an 11 pm.
We are looking for people who have availability during the week and weekends. This is a fun job, and it is not a full-time job, a great source of supplemental income. We will work around your schedule (very flexible); you'll be driving in the evenings and at night.
MiscYou can choose to be a contractor (1099) or an employee, totally up to how you want to manage your taxes.Bus picture: https://hauntedsandiegotours.com/images/ghost-bus-san-diego-haunted-tours.jpg
We love our employees and are very flexible. As long as you are available in the evening and night, we will work around your schedule and fit you in where you can fit. We operate year-round. During Summer and October, it will be all hands on deck so that you will be getting a lot of shifts then.
This is the perfect opportunity for a driver to have an additional source of good money while enjoying a relaxed job with some downtime.
If you are interested, please reply with your phone number and a good time to call you. To interview, you HAVE to have a CDL (Commercial, not Standard Driver's License) with a passenger endorsement when we talk to you.
We will start with a quick phone interview to make sure this is a job you'd like.Appreciate it and you,HSDGT
