• Provides exemplary leadership on the sales floor with emphasis on customer service (helpfulness) and the principles of The Six E’s.
• Always projects a positive, enthusiastic view of Elder’s.
• Reconciles daily receipts with register totals (i.e., check up).
• Meets the company productivity goal of reconciling a cash drawer and assembling the deposit in 20 minutes or less.
• Reconciles excess cash on hand.
• Schedules and directly supervises all cashiers. Including seeing that all shifts are properly staffed.
• Works with Training Coordinator to see that cashiers are staying current with their personal development plans.
• Participates with store manager in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and terminating cashiers.
• Handles all cashier problems (time-off, etc.)
• Orders all office and register supplies.
• Orders candy and snacks.
• Ensures front end merchandise is ordered and stocked (candy, snacks, impulse items, gift cards, etc.).
• Helps on sales floor and POS when needed and during busy times.
• Counts the AM cashier down at shift change.
• Sees that the appropriate number of registers is open at all times. Monitors the “3 people in line” standard.
• Processes RGA’s and defectives or delegates that task to others.
• Sees that all sale kits are put out including Ace Rewards cards.
• Adjusts personal schedule as needed during peak sales weeks and special events.
• Many responsibilities of a head cashier are performed in the store office. Nevertheless, office time should be kept at a minimum so that we can have as many associates on the sales floor as possible offering the best customer service possible.

Like every Elder’s associate, the Head Cashier should perform whatever task is necessary to ensure the store’s success. This includes basic tasks such as loading, sweeping, cashiering, etc. when necessary.
