Heritage School Flex Employee

On behalf of Saline Area Schools, thank you for considering the opportunity to serve the students of Heritage School as a school building flex employee.

School Building Flex Employees are assigned to a specific school building and will work there each school day for the duration of the school day. While flex employees will serve as guest teachers more often than not, in the event the building is fully staffed the flex employee may be assigned to work as a paraeducator, assist with clerical duties, supervise lunches, etc. In extreme cases, flex employees may be re-assigned to a school in need for a given day.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: School building flex employees must meet Michigan standards for substitute teachers. The following educational documents are accepted:

• Official transcripts with a total of 60 credit hours and a minimum 2.0 GPA from regionally accredited colleges/universities
• Temporary Teaching Authorization
• Current Michigan Teaching Certification
• Expired Michigan Teaching Certification
• Out of State Teaching Certificate accompanied by an official transcript from a two or four year accredited college/university showing 60 credit hours and a minimum 2.0 GPA
• LiveScan fingerprints

PAY: The rate of pay for school building flex employees is $125.00 per day. The only exceptions are early release days, (see below).

EARLY RELEASE DAYS: As school building flex employees you do not need to participate in the early release day activities. Since early release days are 90 minutes shorter than regular days, the rate of pay will be 70% of $125 or $87.50.

ATTENDANCE: As a school building flex employee you will earn 15% more per day than our guest substitutes, and are guaranteed work every day. However, we do recognize that life happens to you like it does to everyone else. As a result, we are offering three (3) PTO (paid time off) days per school year. Should you require a day off here or there, please notify Shelly Mareno as soon as you can.
