Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Schools (GHV) is seeking to hire a full time high school social studies teacher for the 2023-24 school year.

The position is open until filled.

GHVHS is searching for an energetic social studies teacher to join our faculty. The social studies teacher’s responsibilities include teaching elements of history, geography, politics, economics, and culture to our 9th - 12th grade students. The person hired for this position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes, and motivates all students to learn at high levels. To be successful as a social studies teacher, the teacher should demonstrate passion and commitment to the field of social studies and to students in general.

Duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Work collaboratively with the other district social studies teachers and become an active participant in our Professional Learning Community (PLC).
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement both formally and informally.
• Create an environment conducive to learning and engaging for all students.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, safe, productive and inclusive environment.
• Believe that all students can learn at high levels.
• Show a commitment to education and a love for kids.
