Tazewell County, Illinois is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and collaborative individual to serve as a Maintenance Worker for the Highway Department.

Job Details:
  • Position: Highway Maintenance Worker
  • This position performs a variety of duties for the Highway Department.
  • The work week is typically eight (8) hours daily Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Maintenance Workers are also on a 24-hour call-out for a one (1) week period that is rotated weekly from 3:30 PM Friday to Friday.
  • This is a full-time, union position with a salary of $27.77 per hour.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform miscellaneous duties such as truck driving, hauling aggregates, dirt, supplies etc.
  • Plowing snow, operating and/or driving paint striping machine.
  • ROW mowing with full size agricultural tractors and mowers.
  • Perform miscellaneous equipment maintenance, washing, waxing, cleaning interiors etc.
  • Perform miscellaneous building maintenance, sweeping floors, washing windows etc.
  • Sign work repairing and replacing.
  • Pavement maintenance, patching, shoulder work, drain cleaning, tile repair etc.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of maintenance experience
  • Considerable knowledge of repair and maintenance procedures for building structures and mechanical equipment
  • Considerable skill in the use of hand and power tools, specialized equipment, and snow removal equipment
  • Must have and maintain a valid CDL license (minimum Class B) with the ability to obtain a CDL Class A license within six (6) months of hire date and comply with drug/alcohol testing mandates for CDL license holders
  • Must have and maintain an operating telephone
