Job Summary:
The Hospitalist provides general medical care to patients that have been admitted to the hospital. Hospitalists lead the medical team and coordinate care for inpatients. Examine individuals as they are admitted, order x-rays, diagnostic tests, lab work, etc.

Essential Functions: *
1. Perform an appropriate medical history, initial assessment, and examination of the patient.
2. Make daily rounds and enter appropriate progress notes with latest findings and treatments.
3. Assess patient’s condition and develop a treatment plan.
4. Collaborate with other physicians such as anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, surgeons and nurses to ensure the health of a patient.
5. Order and prescribe treatment by physical medicine and therapy.
6. Discuss proper nutrition, hygiene, and self-care with patients to promote good and well-being.
7. Advises patients about long-term treatment and management for illnesses and injuries.
8. Serve as point of contact for hospital staff and maintain communication with patient’s family.
9. Completes all documentation and paperwork in a timely manner.

Education and Work Experience: *
1. Completion of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine doctoral program
2. Board Certified
3. DEA Certificate.
4. Ohio Licensure or the ability to obtain.

Environmental/Working Conditions: *
Combination of exam rooms, medical offices, and operating room. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Physical/Mental Demands: *
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and irregular hours.
