Full-time 40 hours/week. 6:30AM-3PM. One weekend per month.

Job Title: Housekeeper

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• Cleans various areas in the facility as assigned, including resident apartments/units, by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing, etc. Uses a variety of cleaning chemicals.
• Cleans carpet and furniture by use of appropriate equipment or schedules cleaning of carpet and furniture by others.
• Changes towels, cleans and disinfects residents bathrooms, may change linens and make beds.
• Collects soiled linens and delivers clean linens. May wash, dry and fold linens.
• Reports any observed change in resident condition, apartment condition or unusual circumstance involving resident apartment/unit to Executive Director.
• Cleans equipment, restocks cleaning cart with required supplies, cleans and stores housekeeping equipment, etc.
• Gathers, transports and disposes of trash.

Minimum knowledge, skills and ability:

• Ability to read at a level necessary to understand directions for using chemicals and other cleaning supplies and work assignments as typically acquired through completion of an eighth grade education.
• Knowledge necessary to learn cleaning procedures, use of chemicals, etc. at a level typically acquired through completion of one week of orientation.
• Analytical skills necessary to determine that a residents room should be cleaned at a different time.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to visit with residents and families, take direction from supervisor.
• Attention to detail for 5% of work time when completing daily housekeeping checklist.
• Ability to stand and walk up to 95% of work time when cleaning, transporting trash, restocking carts, etc. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for up to 5% of work time when lifting cleaning product containers, collecting and distributing laundry, transporting trash, vacuuming, etc.

Working conditions:

• Exposure to body fluids and chemicals for up to 50% of work time.
• Exposure to noise from cleaning equipment, fumes and limited exposure to extremes in temperatures for up to 30% of work time.
