Job Summary
At Total Mechanical Systems, the HR Generalist supports a full range of projects, team members and office duties. Under the guidance of the CFO, the HR Generalist will perform a wide variety of tactical HR duties including practices, compensation and benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, HRIS systems, and safety and compliance. Working predominantly with providing day to day support of front-line employees and managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
- Assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations, improvement plans, terminations, and exit interviews.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implements employee recognition programs.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies, systems, tactics, and initiatives across the organization that align with the overall business strategy
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues
- Maintain pay plan and benefits programs such as Medical and SIMPLE IRA.
- Assisting with employee rewards, recognition, and performance management programs.
- Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
- Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
- Nurture a positive working environment
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 2+ years of HR or related field experience
- Strong working knowledge of human resources practices, along with labor and payroll laws
- Clean background check & drug test
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Skills in database management and record keeping.

Working conditions/Physical Requirements
Working Conditions:
- Frequent speaking, listening, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods working at a computer
- Service center environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, and floor activity
- Dress code is business casual
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day
Compensation
- Potential Total Compensation Range: $47.5-62.5K annually; numbers range greatly due to experience and performance.
Reporting Structure
This position will be supervised by the Chief Financial Officer.
