Summary

We are looking for a developing HR professional to join the Worthington Samuel Coil Processing (WSCP) team! This role works alongside our HR Partner to provide on-site human resource support to WSCP’s two facilities - Twinsburg and Cleveland West with approx. 70-75% at Twinsburg and 25-30% at Cleveland West (located off I-77 outside downtown).

In this HR Generalist role, you will be involved in staffing, onboarding, payroll, employee HR support, and general administration of HR initiatives within the operation. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with a base-line knowledge of HR practices who is looking to grow within the HR function. Must be someone who thrives working in-person with a diverse team!

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages recruitment process including interviews, recommends hire actions and analyzes effectiveness of recruitment and selection process
  • Answers employee questions to support open enrollment, facilitates new hire HR & benefit orientations, onboarding and the exit process
  • Coordinates miscellaneous engagement activities and employee events and awards (attendance, recognition etc.)
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll, HR/Payroll related changes, profit sharing review and submission, provides merit pay and proper job classification recommendations to managers.
  • Assists the HRBP with personnel related items, e.g., investigations and accidents/incident review & follow-up
  • Manages employee records (hard-copy and electronic); assists with reporting and data management
  • Works with HRBP to review skills/competencies and recommend development/training plans, performance management, and/or discipline to address skill or role deficiencies
  • Administers leave of absence, FMLA and salary plan attendance programs
  • Assists with employee council meeting prep, minutes, and issue resolutions, will also create, and distribute employee communications.

Desired Experience

  • Working knowledge of HR programs (e.g., benefits, payroll, compensation, workers compensation, leave of absence etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of human resources laws and regulations
  • Strong organization skills and customer-service focused; responsive and able to adapt to changing needs
  • Self-starter with ability to build relationships, work independently and interact with all levels of employees (production and management)
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure that the processes are delivering their intended outputs
  • Demonstrated written & oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills – ability to use Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) required
  • High degree of professionalism; demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive data and information
  • 2-or 4-year degree in HR or related field, or HR certification, a plus (i.e., SHRM-CP, PHR etc.)
  • 1-3 years of HR/benefit/payroll administration experience, a plus
