Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York’s premier human services providers, is a 128-year-old settlement house that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services—social, educational, legal, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness—which significantly improve the lives of 16,000 people in need each year, ages 3 to 103, on the East Side of Manhattan. Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Coordinator will work closely with all levels of our diverse staff (approximately 160 full-time and 15 part-time) across our five East Side locations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide direction to colleagues so that human resources is viewed as an excellent source of problem resolution, teamwork support and fairness/diversity
- Maintain employee profile and transactions (such as recruitment, on-boarding, promotions, transfers, terminations, salary changes, benefit updates, etc.), data management, in electronic and manual systems, such as web based HRIS system/ADP, shared files, One Drive, and manual employee files
- Assist colleagues with HR related questions
- Create forms, surveys, presentations, etc. using Google Docs or Microsoft forms
- Assist in management of vacancies through various job boards, identifying and tracking new sources of means of recruitment as well as HRIS system
- Manage employment verification process, for current and past employees
- Assist in maintaining federal, state and local compliance matters
- Track screening due dates and maintain screening records (trainings, licenses, medical, other credentials, etc.)
- Assist in generating bi-weekly, monthly and as needed reports via ADP WFN system, for ongoing compliance
- Assist as a liaison between Lenox Hill Neighborhood House and its organized labor partners (1199SEIU and DC 1707 ((Local 95))
- Assist with establishing and administering employee handbook and performance reviews
- Assist with staff training and recognition efforts
- Ongoing projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Human Resources or related field, 1-2 years of Human Resources, Administrative or related experience required
- Must have strong oral and written communication and, administrative skills
- Technological savvy, with intermediate knowledge working with ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, Paycor or similar HRIS, Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in nonprofit and/or social service sector
- General knowledge of employer/employee compliance, federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
