Work Shift: M-F 8am-5pm

Summary of the Job:

The Hyperbaric Safety Coordinator administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. The Technician operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment. As Safety Coordinator the technician oversees all aspects of hyperbaric safety direction and communication in compliance with NFPA and stays up to date with regulation requirements as it pertains to this service line. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for continuing education for the staff and physicians in relation to the most recent hyperbaric safety data and staying up to the minute on changes within the field. The Safety Coordinator coordinates annual inspections and monitors chambers, oxygen and lines daily for any safety compromise. This position is also responsible for utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the wound care patient. This colleague assists in the delivery of patient care appropriate to the level of his/her medical training and follows hospital policies and procedures. The colleague will assist the physician in the patient room and for procedures. The colleague will have an understanding of wound care concepts and use of special modalities related to wound care.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be currently licensed/certified as at least one of the following: LPN or RN. Preferred to have Hyperbaric Certification within 1 year of hire. Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Must be effective in managing time and schedules to ensure smooth transition of patients and efficient workflow. Must be proficient with computer data input and utilizing electronic medical record software to maintain accurate patient medical records. Must be able to perform multitask and accomplish duties efficiently.

Physical Demands:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Nursing: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • RN (Preferred)
  • Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (Preferred)
