Overview

APIC Consulting Services, a subsidiary of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), is seeking CIC®-certified Infection Preventionists (IPs) with long-term care (LTC) experience, this consultant must be available up to 40 hours per week. The work provides Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) assessments and education for Texas-based long-term care facilities (LTCFs) throughout specified regions in the state of Texas. The consultant will provide on-site assessments for the client during normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CT). Administrative duties can be completed remotely. The project work has begun and will continue through July 2023, with the possibility of a contract extension at a later date.


Candidates must reside within the West Texas region, with the possibility of travel to surrounding areas, areas included are listed below.


Duties and Responsibilities for project:

  • Under direction from the Client, the Infection Preventionist Consultant will conduct approved training and individually complete an Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) tools at designated LTCFs.
    • ICARs will be delivered as 1-day or 2-day visits, depending on facility availability and identified needs.
  • When not administering ICARs, Infection Preventionist Consultants will be expected to offer education and resources to the LTCFs within their region.
  • The candidate will receive an initial list of facilities to schedule for ICAR visits and will adjust the list based on uptake from the facilities or as deemed necessary by Client.
    • Candidate will be responsible for scheduling the visit with the facility and coordinating any necessary travel to conduct the ICAR.
  • Candidates will utilize a standard reporting platform (TxHSN) to document all ICAR work, including findings and recommendations.
  • Candidates will be provided with a client issued laptop, badge, and PPE for use onsite.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Client.


Requirements for the Infection Preventionist Consultant role:

  • Consultants must have a minimum of 10 years of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) experience.
  • IPs must maintain a current CIC or LTC CIP certification.
  • LTC experience required - minimum 3 years.
  • Prior experience with TxHSN is preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
  • Must reside within client Region 1 (Panhandle).
