High Plains Mental Health Center currently has a full-time position opening for an Insurance Patient Account Clerk. Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

New employees will receive a $325 sign-on bonus following successful completion of their 90 day orientation period.

Qualifications:

• Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance.
• Typing, modern office practices and procedures, and other secretarial-related duties.
• Insurance experience preferred but not required.
• Must demonstrate competency in the use of technology including computers, various software applications, printers, scanners, telephones, etc.
• Must also demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, to include understanding and application of technology (hardware, software, equipment and processes).
• Candidate must also be able to successfully pass a background check.

Summary Description:

• Assists new patients with completion of financial forms and handles account inquiries in compliance with performance expectations.
• Monitors patient accounts and follows established procedures for insurance claims filing and payments, past due follow-up and account adjustments in compliance with performance expectations.
• Monitors active patient accounts and follows the internal collection process to collect payment.
• Handles insurance inquiries for Hays Office and Branch Offices when requested.
• Assists patients with questions relating to insurance claims, statements, and other billing concerns in compliance with performance expectations.
• Processes accounts to be turned over to collections, i.e. sends out collection letters, transfers balances on the computer, and handles correspondence from collection agencies or the State of Kansas Debt Setoff Program.
• Monitors patient accounts to ensure that insurance pre-certifications are obtained.
