Intact Family Services Caseworker Job Overview: The Intact Family Services program is designed to work with families who have come to the attention of DCFS due to a report of abuse and/or neglect. The important distinction between this program and foster care is that the children remain in their home of origin and the parents maintain custody and guardianship of the children. Intact Family Services caseworkers’ first priority is to work with the family to remove immediate safety threats and then link families to services to help them resolve their problems and enhance family functioning.

Detailed Job Description:

Under direct supervision, performs casework intervention and case management duties related to families in need of child welfare services or children who have been abused or neglected; receives training in child welfare services, casework, counseling and intervention techniques and applicable laws, rules and regulations and carries a progressively larger case load. Duties performed are subject to close guidance

• Responsible for assessing each case and for the development of an individual and/or family service plan. Caseworker must obtain and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of their assigned cases.

• Responsible for working will all collaterals involved in each case, including biological parents, relatives, paramours, children and extended family members. Responsible for providing conflict resolution when problems arise.

• Responsible for all paperwork required for assigned cases. Paperwork includes but is not limited to; case notes, monthly progress notes, referral forms, services plans, Unusual Incident Reports, and all other documents outlined in Administrative Procedure #5 IDCFS.

• Responsible for coordinating of all services being provided to clients and their families, including (but not limited to) employment, mental health, healthcare, legal and education. Responsible for assessing a child’s needs for services and individualizing a service plan to meet any and all needs.

• Responsible for providing 3-15 hours a week of various types of counseling and case management services to each client, including individual, vocational, and family counseling.

• Responsible for safety assessments, CERAPS, routine safety checks outlined according to DCFS policy and procedure.

• Responsible for arranging their schedule in an effective manner in order to adhere to DCFS Policy and Procedure.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
