Under the supervision of the Family Engagement Specialist and Youth & Education Program Manager, the Youth Program Case Worker will directly assist newcomer families to have a successful start and ongoing connection with school including school enrollment and orientation, ongoing systems navigation, and academic support.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and regain control of their future. Since 1976, the IRC in Seattle (IRC Seattle) has worked as an official partner of the U.S. State Department to help over 25,000 refugees who have fled violence and persecution rebuild their lives in Washington State through programs that improve health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power of individuals and communities. IRC Seattle offers a range of services for refugee and immigrant families, groups and individuals, including improving access to jobs, wrap-around services and education. Because IRC works with families all along the arc of their journey from fleeing their home countries to finding safety, IRC brings deep cultural understanding to our work in the U.S. in addition to the lived experience and over 39 languages spoken by our local staff in Seattle. The IRC Seattle Youth Program has been serving refugee and immigrant youth in South King County since 2005. The vision of the Youth Program is that youth from refugee and immigrant backgrounds have the resources and skills necessary to achieve academic success and pursue a future of opportunity. This vision is achieved through holistic programs for families, children, and youth including extended learning opportunities and academic enrichment programs, individual tutoring and family engagement, newcomer summer learning programs, spring and summer break camps, College and Career Academy, with critical social and emotional learning curriculum integrated throughout all of these programs.
