VMD seeks an IT Help Desk Specialist to support our client in Norfolk VA. Serve as an IT Help Desk Specialist maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and providing systems support as needed.
Your Impact to the Mission:
In this IT Help Desk Specialist role, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Provide centralized IT asset management program support for an IT help desk.
- Provides support resolving tracking and monitoring help desk tickets related to IT equipment printer issues mapping drives and the disposal of IT equipment.
- Creates and maintains a list of organizational level contacts to assist with maintenance of an asset management database.
- Supports the development of procedures to maintain an asset database.
- Establishes maintains and enforces asset management procedures and standards; creates and maintains asset management procedure manual that contains detailed descriptions of department functions tasks responsibilities etc.; creates and maintains asset management web pages.
- Coordinates/conducts an organization-wide inventory of equipment software and peripherals.
- Provides analysis of wireless usage.
- Generates asset tracking reports as needed by IT leadership for planning and budgeting purposes.
- Maintains documentation related to asset database creates weekly monthly asset reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Needed to Be Successful:
- Candidate must be on-site and able to maintain core hours of 7:30 am – 5:30 pm.
- Candidate must have broad knowledge of local area networks telecommunications and standard desktop hardware and software configurations.
- Proficiency with Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of hardware and software lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of best practices in asset management.
- Knowledge and understanding of web system technologies such as relational databases server-side programming client-side scripting analytics rich media formats and mobile-specific technologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Agile/Scrum project management methodologies is a plus.
