Job description
POSITION SUMMARY: Community Works' employee co-located at Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Support victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking in reporting and navigating Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Provide advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, resources, and navigating systems for victims referred by Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Provide support and guidance for individuals and families in staying safe. Collaborate with victims and law enforcement to ensure victim safety and justice. Coordinate with rural law enforcement as part of the Lethality Assessment Program. Support survivors in accessing, navigating, and maintaining healthcare and medical appointments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The essential functions below include tasks that are integral to job performance and fundamental to accomplishing the job).
· Provide advocacy support, empathic listening, safety planning, and resources to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking.
· Accompany law enforcement officers or deputies to visit victims.
· Review police reports and contact the victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
· Accompany victims to appointments, and provide transportation as needed.
· Understanding of healthcare systems and ability to support survivors in navigating health insurance and healthcare systems so they may receive appropriate physical and mental healthcare.
· Understanding of legal and civil rights for victims.
· Perform on-call duties.
· Work effectively with crisis situations using a trauma-informed approach.
· Attend and present information at police briefings. And, provide education and training to peers and community members as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
