The BMW Group continues the roll-out of its electromobility plan with a new investment in the U.S. to expand Plant Spartanburg and the companys manufacturing footprint in the U.S.BMW Group Chairman of the Board of Management, Oliver Zipse, announced 10/19/2022, a $1.7 billion investment in its U.S. operations, including $1 billion to prepare for the production of electric vehicles at the companys existing U.S. manufacturing facility in South Carolina, and $700 million to build a new high-voltage battery assembly facility in nearby Woodruff, SC.

The Joining Specialistwill:

• Provide technical support with all joining applications and systemswithin the Battery Plant.
• Developnew joining applicationsand systems in Battery Assembly to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Leadjoining technology teams that support Battery objectives andprojects.
• Assistin developing manufacturing concepts for Batteryprocesses.
• Developdesign standards and specifications related to joiningapplications and systems.
• Providetechnical support related to joining applications and systems during the introduction of new models and series support.
• Participatein cross-functional project teams supporting activitiesrelated to joining topics.
• Ensureproper joining specific documentation delivery from the OriginalEquipment Manufacturer.
• Planand implementimprovements within Battery-related to thespecific joining applications and systems.
• Developsolutions in automated processes using joining applications andsystems.
• Providetechnical support to Battery groups for resolving joiningapplication and system related issues.
• Supportthe Battery Technical Training and Development program byconducting training classes, providing technical documentation, etc.
• Understandand modelVPS (Value Added Production System) Principlesand concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
• Adhereto 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
• Performother duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• BS degree in weld engineering or engineering or the equivalent of 4years of work experience in a joining engineering role (automotivepreferred).
• 4 years of manufacturing/planning experience (automotive preferred) in ahighly automated process including 2 years of project team experience ina manufacturing or business environment.
• Advanced knowledge of joining applications and systems hot (welding,laser, MIG / TIG, etc.) and cold (gluing, rivet, etc.).
• Intermediate PC skills (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint andOutlook).
• Intermediate PC hardware troubleshooting, Networking and TCP/IPknowledge.
• Intermediate written and oral communication skills.
• Intermediate project management skills.
• Intermediate Business Administration skills (budgeting, planning, TimeManagement etc.).
• Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Intermediate CAD knowledge (CATIA preferred).
• Basic knowledge of SAP.
