Lab Supervisor Position

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Supervise phlebotomists and laboratory technologists at 4 locations to maintain quality in the laboratory department

· Assist laboratory staff with duties as needed

· Train new laboratory staff on division procedures

· Provide positive, warm and friendly customer service in all interactions

· Foster teamwork and a positive, professional atmosphere

· Follow the core laboratory’s procedure for specimen collection, handling, and processing, as well as test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of test results

· Follow the core laboratory’s quality control policies

· Coordinate instrument maintenance and procedural calibrations

· Document all quality controls activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance

· Identify indicators that may impact test performance or reporting of test results and either making corrections or notifying Lab Manager

· Understand all checklists and being able to perform all duties on the checklists associated with the position

· Ensure appropriate labs are ordered and performed

· Complete monthly lab staffing schedule and manage staff time off requests

· Conduct annual performance reviews for laboratory staff

· Provide routine feedback to Division Laboratory Director and Lab Manager on lab updates

· Adhere to safety policies as defined by Virginia Physicians, Inc. and OSHA

· Completing other duties as directed.

· Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

o Employee must be at least 18 years of age

o High school graduate or equivalent

o Must have clinical laboratory knowledge and experience

o Computer experience required

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills

o Two+ years of clinical experience preferred

o Prior supervisory experience preferred

Job Details:

o Position is Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm with 1 hour lunch

o Supervisor will rotate between 4 local offices on a schedule TBD (all offices located around Midlothian and Powhatan area)
