This position will be in support of the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Genetics research project investigating aging with neurotrauma using imaging techniques.
HJF is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to perform laboratory procedures to assist supervisors with various testing, assays, and experiments. Provides support in various areas of a laboratory as needed. Complies with laboratory quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) plans and procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • May perform animal modeling of neurotrauma and post-injury animal care. Assists with post-injury behavioral analysis.
  • Assists with data organization and analysis.
  • Prepares tissue which includes embedding, staining, and cutting. May perform basic cloning experiments.
  • Receives and logs in daily shipments, stores appropriately, and notifies pertinent personnel. Ensures adequate inventory/supplies for laboratory use.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and performs general procedures such as monitoring, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
  • Documents testing results and records observations in accordance with good practice quality guidelines and regulations (GxP), standard operating procedures, and protocol requirements.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Technical knowledge of scientific disciplines.
  • Knowledge of and skill in tissue culture technique and handling biological hazards and their safe use and disposal.
Physical Capabilities:
  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
Work Environment
  • This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree
  • A minimum of 0-2 years experience required
