Summary
To provide language services including but not limited to translation and interpretation and tasks for the Language Access Department. Consistent with the core objectives of the federally assisted programs or activities, the specific language needs of Limited English Proficient (LEP) beneficiaries which operate as artificial barriers to full and meaningful participation in federally assisted program’s or activities. Additionally, this position will under direction of the Language Access Manager. Interprets oral and/or written communications to assist AllCare Health in communicating with beneficiaries and members of the public that are not fluent in English. This person serves as a representative to our community and, in turn, represents AllCare Health.

Essential Duties
1. Translation or written materials for beneficiaries, letters of communication, handbooks, and other materials as needed.
2. Interpret oral communications with LEP members of the community.
3. Assist Language Access Manager with language access events including but not limited to Interpreter Training Classes, Events for LEP members and community.
4. Data Entry for Language Access Services provided to LEP members.

Job Requirements

• May require the use of personal vehicle for local travel (subject to mileage reimbursement).
• May require the use of a personal cell phone (cell phone stipend applicable).

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bilingual, with one to two years of healthcare interpreter experience.

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations

• Show Spanish Language Speaking proficiency at a minimum of “Advanced Mid” on the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Scale.
• Show Spanish Language Written proficiency at a minimum of “Advanced Mid” on the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Scale.
• Currently Certified Healthcare Interpreter with the State of Oregon.
• Current on the Oregon Health care Interpreter Registry.
• Valid Oregon Driver’s License and vehicle insurance.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

• The employee must be able to sit or stand minimum of 8 hours per day using telephone and computer.
• The employee must be able to work onsite, as needed.
• The employee must be able to work from a home office, as needed.
• The employee must be able to travel locally, as needed.
