Position: Lead Surgery Tech/Clinic Supervisor (Full-time, Tuesday-Friday, occasional weekends. Exempt position, $36,000 Salary)

Experience Preferred: Certified technician with 3+ years veterinary technician experience

Position Overview:

This position is the lead technician for all TXHH spay/neuter clinics and low-cost vaccination clinics. This position will assist with inventories and orders for all veterinary medical supplies, vaccinations, drugs, microchips, etc. This position also assists with public clients and public/program paperwork.

This position is physically demanding. Majority of work days are spent standing, sitting, bending, squatting, walking, lifting (occasionally up to 50 lbs) as technician lead of spay/neuter and vaccination clinics.

Organizational Structure:
The Lead Clinic Tech reports directly to the Manager of Clinic Operations.

Key Responsibilities on surgery days:

Primary function- Assist Surgeon

• Assist during Patient Check In Process

• Examine animal’s overall health

• Weigh each animal and record

• Set up pack stations and the rest of surgery room

• Sedate and Prep animals for Surgery

  • IV injection of

  • Monitor animal’s vital signs

  • Intubation of patient

  • Shave animal appropriately

  • Properly connect to anesthesia machine

  • Properly scrub animal and open pack

• Review Paperwork to Ensure All Services are Provided

• Assist in Counseling Client’s during Checkout Process

• Clean and Organize Clinic

Position Responsibilities:

• Spay/Neuter Clinic-This position is the lead tech for the spay and neuter program

  • Assist with training and development of the surgery vet tech team on proper policy, procedure and technique.

  • Lead surgery tech during surgery

  • Assist with necessary paperwork for all public animals/clients and program animals

  • Record all public records as necessary

• Vaccination Clinic-This position is the primary lead tech for all Leander vaccination clinics

  • Assist with recruitment and coordination of volunteers for clinic

  • Sub in at Killeen vaccination clinic when needed

• Both Clinics

  • Ensure exceptional customer service

  • Assist in check in and out during public drop-off and pick-up to ensure it is done as quickly and efficiently as possible

  • Collaborate and communicate with customers with questions and concerns via phone and in person when needed.

  • This position handles clinic complaints when the Manager of Clinic Operations is not available and are not to be handled by front desk staff.

  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out correctly by patrons and clinic staff prior to giving to administrative admin for copies/entry.

• Supply Ordering-assist Manager of Clinic Operations when needed

  • Vaccinations, Medications, drugs, microchips, preventatives, dewormers, etc.

    • Program, Spay/Neuter, and vaccination clinic

• Medical Record Keeping

  • Drug log

Supervisor Responsibility:

This position has direct staff supervisory responsibilities.
