Document Legal Assistant

A boutique law firm with an excellent reputation is looking for an extraordinary Legal Assistant on our Document team. Oconee Law Firm focuses on Elder Care, Special Needs Planning, Probate, and Trusts and Estates Law. Therefore, extreme confidentiality is necessary. We deeply care about our clients, work hard for them, and strive for perfection in our work product. Our amazing Legal Assistant will embody this mission and set the stage for the expectation of excellence.

Duties/Responsibilities of our amazing Document Legal Assistant would include:

  • Drafting legal documents such as Powers of Attorney and Health Care Directives, and affidavits
  • Preparing and filing documents with courts
  • Keeping track of changes in legal framework and providing timely updates on these changes
  • Preparing and filing Deeds and other documents in Clerk of Court records
  • Assisting Probate Paralegal and Attorneys with trial preparation
  • Scheduling and conducting basic informative meetings and signing appointments with clients
  • Drafting legal descriptions and preparing financial reports, PT-61’s and Deeds
  • Communicate and coordinate as necessary with court personnel
  • Maintaining accurate billing records on each case or matter
  • Maintaining status of all pending matters before the court and Estates in progress
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Skills and Traits include:

  • Experience in a professional office environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) a must
  • Excellent communication skills using proper grammar and professionalism
  • Professional demeanor and appearance at all times
  • Must be hard-working, with a positive attitude
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Excellent math skills with hyper-sensitive attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; Punctual and efficient
  • Able to handle basic business correspondence such as business letter writing, telephone messages, and general personal correspondence
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be thorough in all aspects of work product
  • Coachable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
