We are seeking Life Skills Instructors to join the Vista team in supporting and encouraging our members to reach key goals and milestones in their journey towards independence.

Our Engage Program, in the local shoreline community from Guilford to Old Saybrook, places Life Skills Instructors in an independent environment with members providing direct one to one or small group instruction so that adults with disabilities can live with independence in their own homes. Life Skills Instructors impact the long-term growth and development of members who are continuing on in their journey towards independence by providing on-going assistance in managing daily life such as work, household management and maintaining social relationships.

Life Skills Instructors also support recreational activities, such as club sports, fitness and social activities and community outings to museums, the theatre, local fairs/festivals and for dining out.

We are open to discussing your availability for hours, and we want to make a match between your schedule and our needs. We can offer Full Time or Part Time hours. We provide life skills instruction seven days a week during the day, afternoon and evening hours. The process starts with a phone call or email from our HR Team to gauge your availability and desired shifts.

To be eligible for Benefits, you must work a regular schedule of 30 or more hours per week.

Education and Experience Requirements for a Life Skills Instructor: Associates Degree OR High School Diploma plus one (1) year of related experience. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is not required. We look for applicants who have good interpersonal skills with a desire to learn.

Essential Requirements for a Life Skills Instructor include a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Hourly Rate: $17.25, plus eligible mileage reimbursement
