SUMMARY:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Triage is a supportive position to the Practice, providing administrative and supportive services to the Providers, staff, and patients. This position reports to the Triage Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Meets and interviews all new pre-natal patients and documents all information
• Completes ONAF’s at new pre-natal visit, 26-32 weeks and post-partum, for Erie, PA and submits to appropriate insurance company
• Completes ONAF’s at new pre-natal visit for Ashtabula, OH and Westfield, NY and submits to appropriate insurance company
• Completes orders for referrals for blood and iron transfusions
• Conducts diabetic education when appropriate
• Administers flu shots and PPD vaccines
• Administers Prolia injections to patients
• Answers and responds to triage phone calls
• Relays to patients via telephone normal and abnormal test results
• Schedules patients for follow-up visit if necessary
• Explains to patient recommendation of Provider
• Calls or fax prescriptions for patient (as recommended)
• Performs injections and Non-Stress Tests (NST’s) as scheduled
• Monitors supply of IUD’s (Nexplanon, Kyleena, Mirena and Paraguard) and orders when necessary
• Monitors supply of emergency kits and orders when necessary
• Consistently demonstrates internal and external quality customer service standards to all that request assistance, responding in a professional manner
• Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Occupational Exposure:

Category 3 Has a low risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.

Other: Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting up to 10 pounds, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. The position is 40 hours per week.
