POSITION TITLE: Long-Term Substitute Teacher Aide
LOCATION: Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children, Clarks Summit, PA
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB
DESCRIPTION: This position is considered to be a long-term substitute position. Responsibilities
include working with the teaching staff to assist in carrying out the educational
programs for the students in the classroom, assisting with teaching and
reinforcing of living skills, behavior programs and plans that may be in place for
the students, assisting with transporting the student(s) from place to place when
needed, acting as an assistant to the teacher in helping to reinforce any
academic, social, emotional or behavioral goals on the student’s IEP, and
maintaining data for student programming purposes.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: As least an Associate’s degree with general training or experience in child
development and/or experience working with deaf children is preferable. The
individual must be familiar with needs of deaf students. Some experience in the
area of deafness is preferred.
The Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) for this position is “Advanced.”
The minimum level accepted at hire is “Intermediate.”
PA Criminal History, FBI, PA Child Abuse clearances required. Mandated
Reporter Training Certification also required.
