MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: Operate CNC machines and equipment used in the manufacturing of products and will work with other employees to effectively meet or exceed expectations for product quality and productions rates.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Operate CNC machinery and equipment used in the manufacture of products
- Follow operating manuals, maintenance instructions and standard operating procedures
- Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results
- Uses blueprints to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.
- Use measuring devices and techniques to ensure proper sizing and adherence to specifications as work is very precise with no variances in dimensions.
- Perform set-up and changeovers with minimal supervision
- Uses various materials including stainless steel, tool steel, aluminum, brass, and plastic.
- Uses various equipment including manual and CNC lathes, EDM, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
- Inspection of work with minimal assistance
- Uses various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools as well as cutting tools and measuring instruments on a frequent basis
- Initiate basic problem solving techniques
- Verify calibration on tools, gages, fixtures
- Deburr parts as required
- Observe all Viant Safety procedures and use of proper PPE
- Assist other machinist in department with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
- May train other operators
- Follow company safety procedures and OSHA lockout-tag out regulations for equipment under power and proper PPE..
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 5 years direct experience as a machine operator working with CNC machines (mills, lathes, EDM)
- Must be able to produce tooling and fixtures as well as perform inspection for adherence to quality and tight tolerances.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret CNC programs
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Light work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
