Job Description Summary

The Machinist / Fabricator is responsible for producing machined parts by setting up, and operating machinery; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Duties

• 
  Work independently in selecting tooling needs and required speeds for each set up
• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
• May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures
• Check steel harness on Rockwell/Hardness Tester
• Engage in team 5S projects
• Run manual mills and lathes equipment
• Fabricate tool and dies
• Run surface grinder
• Responsible for maintaining a clean workspace
• Conduct quality control assessments of your materials and products
• Responsible for calibrating and maintaining your tools and machines

• Other duties may be assigned as needed

Qualifications

Required Skills

• 
  College or technical school education preferred, but not required
• OSHA certifications a plus, but not required
• Ability to read a caliper, micrometer, tape measure & indicator
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to use a variety of tools and machines of varying complexity

Physical Requirements

• 
  Lifting up to 40 lbs.

• Intermittent bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, walking, and squatting

• Standing for long periods of time
