Position Overview:
The Trading Desk Lead, Feedstocks Supply & Trading will report to the Head of Trading within Motiva - Aramco Trading Americas organization. This role is responsible for leading and developing a team of Trading and Operations/Scheduling professionals that buy, sell and schedule Feedstocks (Fuel Oils, VGO’s, Distillates, Residuals and Intermediates) in support of Motiva & Aramco Trading Americas trading objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts by the Feedstocks Trading team to:
- Acquire, arrange delivery of (schedule) and optimize deliveries of Feedstocks (Fuel Oil, VGO, Distillates) to meet the needs/demand for the Motiva Port Arthur Refinery (PAR).
- Disposing, off take and arrange takeaway of Intermediates from PAR during periods of unit maintenance and disruptions.
- Support trading objectives by developing and implementing system related Feedstocks trading activities.
- Engage in value adding discretionary trading activities related to system and non-system (discretionary) responsibilities, product awareness and arbitrages.
- Establishing and maintain Management level relationships with third party suppliers, customers, service providers and trading partners to effectively carry out day to day trading responsibilities and help develop new commercial business development opportunities.
- Engage in, develop and grow collaborative relationships to increase the security of supply and establishment of shorts, access to markets and increase the overall profitability.
- Continuously improve the working relationship with stakeholders at Pt Arthur Refining.
- Integrate the Feedstock Trading team’s work into the broader trading organization’s objectives.
- Establish and maintain ability to clearly explain results from activities and provide market intelligence to the trading organization.
Scope and Scale:
- ~70 million barrels per year (200,000 barrels per day) of volume.
- ~$75 million dollars per year of OPEX spend.
- ~3 million barrels of shore tank storage; domestic and international
- ~4 US Flagged Ocean Going and Inland Barge Marine vessels, plus spot equipment
- 5-7 Direct Reports
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Business, Finance or Engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in international feedstocks and intermediates supply, trading and operations activity.
- Regional expertise in Gulf Coast (Houston, Mississippi River, etc.) and Latin America (Mexico, Central America, etc.) markets.
- Expert level knowledge on qualities and specifications of Feedstocks and Intermediates
- Understanding of book level exposure, arbitrage, and risk trading management
- Motivated, collaborative and creative character traits
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Refining Processes
Experience with Marine Technical or Chartering roles
