Manager of Human Resources (Employee Relations)

Day Shift / 40hrs/wk


Act as the Human Resources liaison to leadership, supervisors and employees with regard to employee relations issues. Provide on site HR support to all employees consistent with Masonicare’s mission, vision and values.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that human resources services delivered directly or indirectly are necessary, cost effective and in support of the business plan. Develop collaborative, strategic relationships with designated Affiliate Executive and members of the management team. Advise managers and supervisors on employee performance concerns and employee relation issues and serve on various affiliate-based committees as assigned. Provide advice and oversite to other HRBP’s with employment relation issues.

  • Develop initiatives to reduce turnover, improve retention, culture and engagement. Support managers in their efforts to increase employee morale and satisfaction. Provide trainings to managers on such initiatives and strategies.

  • Make recommendations to affiliate Executive and management team regarding job descriptions, promotions and salary changes. Performs salary analysis when needed. Assist with Masonicare’s compensation practices. Analyzes internal/external equity based on local market information and takes initiative to address issues.

  • Completes projects and assignments as requested by the Affiliate Executive.

  • Liaison with outside legal counsel on issues related to employee relations issues such as employment, complaints, ADA, terminations, etc.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulations administered by the EEOC and other federal, state and/or local government agencies.

  • Oversee the management of all Human Resources policies and procedures are being applied in a way that is consistent with other Masonicare affiliates. Review policies on a monthly basis to ensure information is up to date and accurate. Partner with other members of H.R. to develop, implement and communicate these policies throughout the organization.

  • Review Department of Labor Unemployment Compensation claims, determine appropriate response, and take action, as well as, coordinate responses to unemployment hearings.

  • Oversee the succession planning process. Meet with affiliate leadership to ensure succession planning goals.

  • Oversee the performance module within HRIS. Ensure compliance with regards to 90 day, semi-annual and annual review. Oversee stay interview and exit interview process.

  • Manages calendar of annual HR initiatives and coordinates the efforts of the HRBP team to ensure compliance.

  • Uses HRIS system for reporting and engagement tool to ensure engagement amongst Masonicare affiliates. Action and disperse date when appropriate. Educate and inform managers and leaders of trends.

  • Stays up to date regarding employee legislation at the state and federal levels. Stays current and is aware of social, economic and other trends that may affect the business or the direction of human resources policies and programs.

  • Partner with the talent team to ensure success through an employee’s life cycle with Masonicare.

  • Counsels' management on the development process and execution of development plans to build skill, competency and organizational capability.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned. To include, but not limited to:

  • Training and orientation as required
  • Employee investigations and appeal process and hearings
  • Development/Implementation/Communication of organizational HR policies
  • Liaison with state and government agencies (Department of Labor/Immigration etc…)

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.

Experience: 5-7 years of HR generalist experience required. Experience in healthcare strongly preferred.
