Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor

Job Location: Dayton, Tennessee (no relocation offered for this position)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Shift: Monday through Friday with overtime as needed

On-Site position, no virtual or remote work

SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Supervisor will lead and direct all production activity for the assigned department. Suburban operates a high-volume production facility that includes metal fabrication, coatings, welding and mechanical assembly across multiple shifts. The assigned department will be based upon need and the candidate’s abilities. This will be discussed in the interview process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manufacturing Supervisor is a key leadership role in our organization. The position is the first line of human resources and will ensure policies are followed. The Supervisor maintains accurate timekeeping records for the team and ensures inventory transactions are accurate and complete. The position also supports new product launches and engineering changes. The role is responsible for planning, executing and improving the performance of the assigned department in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY

  • Promote a “Zero Injury” culture
  • Ensure safe working conditions and safe work behavior

QUALITY

  • Lead defect reduction and error-proofing
  • Maintain standardized work and process control plans. Ensure compliance to quality standards.

DELIVERY

  • Maintain/improve schedule attainment and fill rate by leading the assigned department
  • Lead equipment uptime improvement and line downtime reduction

COST

  • Lead cost reduction in labor, scrap and OT
  • Engage team in eliminating/reducing NVA

PEOPLE

  • Work with Dept. Manager to improve employee relations, work environment and teamwork
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication with all levels of the organization to build trust and encourage cooperation toward common goals
  • Implement training plans to develop the skills of the team and to grow leaders within the team

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Maintain KPIs to accurately measure performance and drive daily improvement in SQDC
  • Effectively identify problems, utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving tools to implement corrective measures
  • Lead and participate in regular kaizen activity for improvement

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in a production leadership role
  • Experience in metal fabrication, coatings, welding and/or mechanical assembly
  • High volume, discreet manufacturing experience is a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and evaluate employee’s production performance. The use of hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
