POSITION SUMMARY

The Howard County Tourism Council, Inc. (DBA Visit Howard County) seeks a motivated people-person with strong organizational abilities to join our team in a position that supports our Marketing and Community Outreach initiatives.

The Marketing & Promotions Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating marketing support for designated tourism events and festivals, setting up and staffing a Visit Howard County exhibit booth at events in Howard County to include weekends, providing support for marketing promotions, coordinating marketing content and artwork, tracking media buys and marketing impressions.

This is an hourly, non-benefited position with up to 24 hours per week and additional special pay for working the Howard County Welcome Center on the Go at events and festivals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate marketing support for designated tourism events
• Set up and staff the Howard County Welcome Center on the Go at events across Howard County, including evenings and weekends
• Provide support for marketing promotions
• Coordinate marketing content and artwork
• Track media buys and marketing impressions
• Assist with website maintenance and content
• Assist with social media posts
• Assist with e-newsletter creation and deployment
• Perform other duties aligned with the Marketing and Community Outreach departments

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education or experience in marketing, promotions, customer service, or related field.
• Ability to represent a brand in public settings
• Ability to navigate social media platforms and execute social posts and paid advertising.
• Ability to use standard office software, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva Design Platform, email software, tourism data platforms, and CRM/CMS applications—such as SimpleView—at an intermediate to advanced level.
• Ability to learn and use various technical marketing and administrative tools and apps
• Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication, and organizational skills

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to report to the Visit Howard County office for scheduled work shifts
• Ability to report to shifts at events and festivals in Howard County to include weekends
• Ability to transport and set up, and breakdown a 10x10 pop-up tent and related supplies at events and festivals in Howard County

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Internship

Pay: $19.00 per hour
