Job description
The primary function of the Materials Planner position will be inventory review and the creation and management of production plans in accordance with the position’s goals and objectives, forecasts and orders, and production capacity. Focus will be on the implementation of effective, efficient, and economical production plans to maintain adequate stock levels and control costs through related proper controls.
- Review stock levels and create and input production plans to ensure inventory and plans are adequate to meet customer and/or forecasted demand.
- Improve efficiencies through the reduction of changeovers by coordination with Production thru the analysis and sequencing of like items.
- Communicate issues with Planning/Production that will affect plans and schedules, efficiency and/or service to customers.
- Review of needs report on daily basis as communication tool for Operations and Customer Service.
- Field calls/inquires about product availability on make to order items.
- Evaluate changes in production plans to identify root causes and communicate to management to work towards solutions for improved and precise production plans.
- Identify and communicate forecast variances to Production Planning Manager, Operations and Forecast Planning to improve planning data.
- Assist in project management related to planning in regards to rollout of new items working in conjunction with various departments.
- Support Production Planning Manager in developing an active and continuous improvement plan.
- Maintain orderly files for correspondence, reports of conferences, and other project documents.
