We are Nevados Engineering, an innovative startup based in San Francisco, CA that is pioneering in the solar industry. At Nevados, we believe that solar installations should fit to the earth instead of forcing the earth to fit to solar installations. We set out to make solar a cost-competitive source of clean energy in every way possible. We specialize in designing and selling mounting systems, typically called Single Axis Trackers, and other related innovative technology to elevate the solar industry. Our core product, the Nevados “All Terrain Tracker”, is unique in that it enables installation on ungraded terrain which triples the amount of land available for developers, reduces construction costs, and reduces construction labor on flat, sloped, and rolling terrain.
Position Overview:
Nevados is seeking an experienced Mechanical Test Engineer responsible for testing and qualifying the next generation of solar tracker technology. In this role, you will manage testing of our products ensuring our products meet internal requirements as well as industry standards. You will also be managing external testing programs, often working directly with credible 3rd party labs. We are a small team; hence, you will have an opportunity to develop diverse skills set supporting product verification and development. We are in the SF bay area and candidates for this position must be local.
Responsibilities:
- Manage product testing both internally with the product engineering team and externally with testing labs.
- Work with Design Engineers to design experiments based off product requirements and project needs.
- Design test fixtures using SolidWorks and FEA as needed
- Manage and develop testing instrumentation and calibration
- Automate testing and data collection
- Expand testing capabilities
- Change and expand current Arduino (or similar) code to meet the testing requirements
- Create test procedures and plans and writes test reports.
- Executes testing with support from Design Engineers and Field Techs.
- Investigates and analyzes test results to improve product development and test environment.
- Coordinate testing execution with labs and component manufacturers.
Salary: Competitive salary will be determined and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Compensation also includes equity in the Company.
Location: Must be local and able to go into the office/testing site as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical or Test Engineer or related. Experience working with a start-up preferred.
· Experience using SolidWorks.
· Experience writing technical documentation.
· Experience in writing Arduino Code
· Experience using hand tools and power tools.
· Work experience in Solar tracking space is a plus
Skills: A team player with strong communication, mechanical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
