Overview:

Bilingual and Part-time workers needed.

PBACO is assisting its providers in locating medical assistants to work in their primary care physician offices. As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interview patients and document basic medical history
  • Take vitals and document findings in the patient chart
  • Review annual wellness questionnaire with appropriate patients
  • Organize, authorize, and schedule appointments for referrals
  • Enter laboratory services
  • Send prescriptions electronically or by fax. Verbally call-in prescriptions
  • Assist during medical examinations
  • Triage patient calls, assess the problem, consult with the physician
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
  • Administer injections, perform urinalysis and other lab test, EKG, if trained and authorized to do so.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software to include E-clinical Works

Education and/or Experience:

High School or GED typically required. Associate degree or related healthcare certification preferred. One year of experience working in a clinical environment preferred; working knowledge of medical terminology. Working knowledge of EMR systems. Bilingual in Spanish helpful.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills:

MS Office Productivity Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); and various EMRs.

Other Skills and Abilities:

High accuracy and extreme confidentiality a MUST. Detailed oriented and very organized.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee will have a combination of standing, sitting, bending, and reaching. May work at a computer monitors for prolonged periods. The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.'
