Medical Assistant part-time – Physician Office

Responsibilities:
  • Receive patient from the waiting room and escort to the exam or treatment room
  • Obtain and record vital signs, height and weight, major complaint, medication and allergies in patient chart
  • Perform venipuncture for blood collected by following proper specimen, storing and recording protocols
  • Collect various specimens (i.e. urine, etc.) by following proper specimen collection, storing and recording protocols
  • Prepare lab specimen in timely manner for transport to hospital lab by maintaining positive specimen identification throughout processing
  • Prepare patient, assist physicians with set-up and clean-up of procedures as per protocols
  • Perform, report and record clinical laboratory tests done
  • Perform and record quality assurance data on clinical equipment according to protocols
  • Observe universal precautions and aseptic techniques with patient and the use of medical instruments and equipment
  • Perform and operate safely all medical equipment according to manufacturers' instructions and protocols
  • Report and record patient critical lab values, adverse reactions and pertinent information promptly to physician and RN
  • Responsible for monitoring medical supply inventory and reporting to office manager
  • Perform computer order/entry functions
  • Triage patient phone calls
  • Able to perform administrative duties (i.e. scheduling appointments, answering phone, filing, handling medical records, etc.)
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
  • Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner


Requirements:
  • Medical Assistant Education, Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant
  • EMR experience
