A busy neuro-ophthalmology clinic is looking for a Billing Specialist who is motivated and excited to join a high paced team. We are looking for a self-starter who likes to stay busy.

Primary duties include:

  • Payment posting, including both patient and insurance payments.
  • Medical billing and collection, including billing out both electronic and paper claims.
  • Rejections and denials.
  • Patient insurance eligibility and verification.
  • Insurance follow ups and claims.
  • Initiating in person contact with patients as necessary.
  • Answering patient calls and general billing inquires.
  • Responding timely and accurately to all incoming related correspondence and inquiries from payers, patients and other authorized parties.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation and information is correct according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Posting adjustments to accounts in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Clearly documenting in patient’s account any actions taken or any follow up completed or needed.

Other duties will include:

  • Patient benefit coverage.
  • Patient payment responsibilities.
  • Training co-workers on billing practices as needed

Experience:

  • Experience in a medical specific role and knowledge in all the responsibilities listed above is required.
  • Knowledge of medical and billing terminology required and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • E-Clinical Works experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must work efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Must be willing to work as part of a team.

We have two locations, one in Grand Prairie and one in Dallas. This position will work two days at the Grand Prairie location and 3 days at the Dallas location during the work week. Must be able to work as early as 6am.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay based on experience: $19.00 to $23.00 per hour
