Billing Specialist
Group Counseling Practice
Objective
We are looking to hire an experienced Medical Biller (Behavioral Health) to join our practice by January of 2023. The official title of this role is Billing Specialist.

We are a group counseling practice in Montana. We provide therapy and integrative counseling services across Montana to people of all ages.
Hours, Pay, and Benefits
This is a full-time, non-exempt, W2 position with health insurance, dental and vision, and paid time off. Hours range from 25-35 hours/week. Pay starts between $25 and $28 per hour depending upon experience. There will be opportunities for regular increases in pay and bonuses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Billing Specialist will report directly to the practice owners and work closely with the administrative team. The primary purpose of the Billing Specialist position is to accurately bill and submit claims for all clients using insurance and private pay.
This entails but is not limited to the following:
- maintain accounts receivable with all clients
- extensive knowledge of CPT, DSM-5, and ICD-10 coding regulations and guidelines
- understands the difference between co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance
- uphold Montana Medicaid and Insurance standards
- able to work and appeal denied claims and maintain aging reports
- collaborate with Client Care Coordinator regarding eligibility and benefits checks for incoming clients
- facilitate pre-authorizations for clients, when necessary
- it helps, but is not limited to: collect data, create, and maintain billing dashboards
- communicate directly with all clients about finances related to services
- exhibit high comfort level with client collections
- savvy with technology, including practice management systems or electronic health records systems
- other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- prior experience working in medical or behavioral health billing
- exceptional communication both written and verbal
- it helps, but is not necessary, to have: a billing degree or certification from an accredited program
- exceptional attention to detail
- motivation to work toward continual improvement and adaptable to practice needs
- experience and knowledge of HIPAA compliance in a healthcare setting
