Medical Technologists
Spencer Hospital is seeking multiple Medical Technologists to perform a variety of routine & complex lab tests, of body fluids & other substances to provide data in diagnosis or treatment of diseases.
Utilize professional judgment & comply with the Compliance Policy, all laws, rules, regulations, & standards of conduct. Report any suspected violations of the law or the standards of conduct. Verify correct patient identification & accurately label specimen immediately. Follow blood borne pathogens procedures when collecting specimens. Prepare specimens for shipment to reference lab. Perform procedures/tasks in all sections of lab including Blood Bank, Chemistry/Urinalysis, Hematology/Coagulation, & Microbiology. Ensure appropriateness of test results based on lab tests or known clinical patient history. Recognize limitations, seek help appropriately, & follow all tasks to completion. Demonstrate competency through successful proficiency testing performance. Self-sufficient, flexible with dept needs, constructive, & perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Ensure all quality control & assurance mechanisms have been adhered to. Integrate instrument data, quality control & test principles for accurate result reporting. Document corrective action in response to quality control deviations & perform/document routine maintenance & minor repair of all lab instruments.
Full-time employment, a min of 36 hours/week. Requires Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology or a closely related science field.
12 months of experience in high complexity testing. ASCP, or AMT cert.
