Job Title: MRI Technologist
Hours: 4 days, 10 hours evening shift Plus one weekend day rotation
Status: Full Time
Locations: Voorhees Office
Reports to: MRI Modality Manager
SUMMARY – The purpose of this position is to perform high quality MRI studies while providing excellent customer service and customer care to patients in a fast paced, friendly environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Verify patient’s personal information and history
  • Clear patients according to MRI Safety standards/guidelines
  • Explain the procedure to the patient
  • Perform MRI scans according to the referring physicians’ script/referral using correct protocols, which includes setting up the room with appropriate coil for scan to be performed
  • Perform injections following contrast protocol as indicated
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations
  • Practice MRI safety at all times
  • Provide ear protection
  • Monitor patient during study by communicating with them
  • Have great patient care skills
  • Make the patient comfortable to insure an excellent exam; providing blankets, knee rest and padding when necessary
  • Follow manufactures guidelines for service
  • Process the patient check out by using PACS and RIS and appropriate documentation
  • Always practice infection control
  • Maintain a clean and well stocked room
  • Perform weekly ACR QC
  • Post processing studies as needed
  • Travel to SJRA offices as necessary
  • Punctuality and regular attendance
  • All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of approved Radiology program
  • Current, valid Radiology New Jersey license
  • Valid ARRT license
  • Board certified in MRI
  • IV certified
Training and Experience
  • One to two years experience in MRI practices
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient in cross sectional anatomy as well as medical terminology
  • Proficiently perform venipuncture
  • Infection control practices
  • Operate a power injector
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands of the Position
  • Lifting/moving patients, positioning the patients
  • Assisting patients on and off table and into a wheelchair, when required
  • Sitting 50% of shift, standing 10% of shift and walking 40% of shift
Working Conditions
  • Direct patient contact
  • Magnetic fields passed the five (5) gauss line
  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluids
