The Brockton Music Clubhouse program is a state of the art, dedicated after school music facility equipped with everything participants need to produce, record and learn popular music. Using your music expertise, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor teen participants, helping increase their self-confidence/self-esteem by coaching them to make beats in the studio, play instruments, and perform on stage.
Profile of a successful Studio Clubhouse Director:
● Motivated by being a positive role model and using music is a vehicle for youth development
○ Mentor teens through music, influencing their leadership, academics, social skills, and self-esteem
○ Teach the types of music that participants choose without making it feel like “more school”
● A magnet for the teen participants
○ Is culturally relevant and can manage participant behavior
○ Uses their enthusiasm to attract and recruit new participants
● Strong musically and technically
○ Music producer and multi-instrumentalist aware of current music trends
○ Musical director that can prepare groups for high-production value performances/projects
● Has real world music industry experience and continues to develop their artistry
○ The Clubhouse director is musically credible and relevant
○ Inspired to develop musically and professionally, innovates/adapts with new music trends
● A team player who is committed to the mission and values of the youth development organization
○ Can “go with the flow” when things don’t go as planned
○ Supervise a small staff of music mentors and instructors
Experience Requirements:
● Relevant music experience in:
○ Musical knowledge - e.g. reading music, harmony, rhythm, scales, key signatures, etc.
○ Instrument proficiency - able to play at least two instruments at an intermediate level
■ Guitar, bass, drum set, piano, or vocals
○ Advanced music production techniques - e.g. beat making, mixing/mastering
● High school graduate required, Bachelor’s Degree in a music related major a plus
● Experience working with inner-city urban teens and Youth Development organizations a plus
○ Bilingual in Creole, Spanish and English a plus
○ Able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
○ Able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
○ Satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance
Position:
The Studio Clubhouse Director is a full-time position with a competitive salary and excellent benefits. The expected schedule is 12:00pm to 8:00pm Monday - Friday (occasional mornings/weekends required).
Pay and Benefits:
● Status: Full Time
● Pay: $46,000 - $51,000 depending on experience
● Benefits: Health/Dental Insurance, PTO, Sick Time, Holiday Time, 401k Matching
