Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to Coordinate Services to develop the learning skills of families/individuals and help them identify and access resources and solve problems to remove barriers to their movement out of poverty.
Essential Functions:

Plans centered-based services and projects that will address specifically assessed needs of the surrounding community and the national priorities of Results Oriented Management and Accountability: plans services and projects; collaborates with other Step Forward programs and external organizations to assure that staff is constantly aware of available community resources and is using them to help low income families; participates in the development of neighborhood strategies to promote and improve conditions that affect low-income people; plans and implements projects which involve low-income families in learning public policy processes and understanding the value of their impact on public policy decisions.
Identifies special needs within the community and collaborates with Step Forward leadership to plan, acquire resources and to implement special projects to meet those needs; influences and identifies participation of businesses and community organizations emergency response needs of the low income family and the neighborhood center programs; assures the neighborhood operations include records confidentiality, retention and organization, work and employment standards, purchasing and asset protection, electronic communication and record entry are in compliance with Step Forward policies and procedures and incorporates new policies and procedures.
Prepares reports as instructed by the Director, Neighborhood Opportunity Centers for use in information to Step Forward management, directors and external funding sources. May supervise the work of staff assigned to the Neighborhood Opportunity Centers with some exceptions determined by Supervisor (Director, Neighborhood Opportunity Centers).
Attends meetings, conferences workshops and trainings for professional development and to obtain best practices to perform in the position.
Additional Functions:
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology or a related field required; Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) is preferred; and three years of experience as a social worker or related field preferably in a large non-profit organization; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Additional Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
Successful results of pre and continued employment assessments including fingerprinting, drug testing, medical examinations and background check(s).
