Job Summary:

Cultivates referral relationships with outside providers, ensures timely communication throughout the referral process. Functions as a patient advocate and educator. Works collaboratively with the financial coordinators and providers to get patients approved for infusion treatments. Assist with administration of biologic medications as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Communicate with internal and external providers to obtain medically necessary information for benefits approval.
• Educate patient on infusion medications and infusion process.
• Maintain database of referring providers.
• Maintain database of patients discontinued from infusion therapy.
• Acts as a liaison between the different teams related to infusion.
• Have strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and compassion.
• Support effective appointment scheduling.
• Auditing to ensure referring providers receive infusion notes in a timely manner.
• Assist in marketing infusion medications to potential referring offices.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies and functions. Understanding of documentation standards.
• Knowledge of equipment, supplies and materials needed for medical treatment.
• Understanding of basic laboratory values.
• Knowledge of disease process and treatment options.

Skills:

• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be proficient with computers.

Abilities:

• Ability to use manual dexterity to perform medical treatments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and diverse patient populations.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug dosages.

Qualifications:

• Current LPN or RN license.
• AllScripts EMR experience preferred.
• Clinic experience preferred.
• IV experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to sit, perform data entry and view computer screen for long periods at a time.
• Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
• Daily standing, walking, bending, and maneuvering.
• May require lifting up to 50 pounds or more to transfer and/or turn patient with and without assistive devices.

Travel:
Travel may be required.

Scheduled Working Hours:
Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Fridays. Hours may vary depending upon the needs of the position, department, and clinic.

Equipment Operated:

Computer, stethoscope, echocardiography (EKG) machine, automated external defibrillator (AED), blood pressure cuff, infusion equipment and other nursing items. May involve use of walkers, wheelchairs, and pulse oximetry and oxygen tanks.
