Team Overview

The NVH Test Engineer applies engineering principles, experiences and various analysis tools in following established test plans/procedures to test design parts/components in area of specialty to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards. Collaborate with NVH Development Engineer, Mechanical Engineering and other engineers to ensure system requirements are met and vehicle integration is optimized.


Responsibilities

  • Identify proper test methods, materials, fixtures and equipment required, identify resolution for defects identified during testing
  • Establish data settings, prepare/setup test equipment, as well as conduct tests, verifying accuracy/thoroughness and determining if additional testing is required
  • Analyzes/interprets test results, predicting performance/failure and providing required product/design data, communicating test results clearly in written reports/formal presentations and making general recommendations based on analysis of testing results
  • Perform problem solving and design robustness assessments to support design improvements to the Lidar Sensor
  • Utilize data acquisition systems and software to perform NVH analyses such as FFT, Order Tracking, Operational Deflection Shapes, Impact Testing, Modal Analysis, and Vehicle Testing
  • Standardize test, data analysis and storage procedures
  • Support vehicle NVH development activities as required at various OEM locations
  • Manage lab test equipment and workstation schedule, maintenance, calibration, and upgrades as well as tracking and maintaining lab inventory

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in STEM field
  • 5+ years experience with standard acoustic and vibration testing performed in an anechoic, hemi-anechoic, or reverberation chamber
  • Strong understanding of Quality standards such as ISO 17025
  • Strong understanding of tooling/fixturing and related mounting techniques for accelerometers and microphones
  • Competent in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database programs, data acquisition programs, measuring instruments or comparable
  • Competent in using LMS Siemens and Head Acoustics ArtemiS acquisition and analysis tools
  • Efficient in problem solving and root cause analysis as well as hands on debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive OEM, Tier 1 industry experience
  • Sound Quality Analysis
  • Knowledge of mechanical vibration or shock testing

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $102,000 and $167,000* per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.
