The Klein Family Harford Crisis Center (KFHCC) is a comprehensive, trauma-informed behavioral health hub that uses innovative evidence-based modalities to serve our community. The KFHCC was created with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations in mind in order to ameliorate the behavioral health crisis currently being experienced in Harford County, Maryland. All aspects of crisis response behavioral healthcare are offered directly by the KFHCC. Specifically, an Urgent Care Walk-In Clinic, an Outpatient Therapy/Psychiatry Clinic, and short-term Residential Crisis Beds are offered to those in need of behavioral health/substance use disorder care. In addition, targeted education is provided in the community with the goal of eliminating stigma associated with mental health and substance use disorders.
Coordinates the day to day office operations for Outpatient Behavioral Health Services. Maintains departmental records and files, prepares documents and correspondence, organizes inventory of office supplies and forms, and designs forms and reports needed for the program. Assists in tracking outpatient statistics and prepares reports as directed by the Behavioral Health Services Director. Responsible for patient scheduling, registration and appointment authorization. Assists with insurance verification of scheduled patients. Serves as a contact and resource for financial issues for the outpatient/or their representative and as a liaison to health system, physicians, and hospital staff during patient’s care.
Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalency. AA degree in Business or healthcare administration preferred.
Work Orientation & Experience: Two years experience in a medical office setting with computer experience; general knowledge of medical terminology; prior experience with insurance verification and scheduling required; knowledge of medical coding and billing functions.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: a) handle multiple tasks simultaneously; b) communicate effectively with patients, medical staff and team members; c) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the practice; d) maintain confidentiality with patients and team member information; e) communicate effectively, orally and in writing; f) answer multi-line phones; and g) work independently, use critical thinking skills, and take initiative in achieving outpatient services’ goals. Demonstrated skills in: a) computer literacy to include word processing, database and spreadsheets in Microsoft Office Professional software; b) customer service; c) attention to detail with follow-through; and d) strong organizational skills.
