Position Summary:
The Night Supervisor will provide support to the Operations Manager and Day Supervisor in scheduling and logistics; team member development; customer engagement; safety program implementation, process and procedure execution; and general facility and boiler maintenance at Savage’s Morenci Transload and Transportation operations. This includes the loading of HAZMAT Molten Sulphur loads via transload from railcar to tractor-trailer units.

Responsibilities/Job Duties:

• Must be willing to work primarily night shift.
• Set an example of high integrity and fair treatment of others.
• Effective utilization of the Safety Specialist program as a tool for accomplishing the safety goals of the operation and for developing future leadership.
• Ensure logistics and inventory information is collected, sorted, verified, analyzed, and distributed to management in a timely and efficient manner.
• Serve as the overnight primary point-of-contact for customer and driver inquiries and assist with resolving concerns and discrepancies.
• Make necessary, timely adjustments to nightly load schedules by managing asset availability, driver headcount, and customer needs.
• Supervise inventory levels and provide alerts to management and customers if impending problems may occur.
• Safely and efficiently manage the system and equipment for the successful unloading of incoming Sulphur railcars.
• Lead the general maintenance and cleanup of the plant and equipment at our Morenci, AZ, operation.
• Perform nightly inspections of boilers, railcars, tractor-trailers, and equipment to ensure safe conditions and operation.
• Work with Day Supervisor on railcar/transfer preparation, including installing bolt-on/bolt-off fittings, making hose connections, maintaining all steam, air, and water lines, and general housekeeping of the facility
• Work with Day Supervisor on boiler maintenance, including soft water tests, ensuring proper chemical balances, conducting blow downs, and general maintenance on boiler systems.
• Work with team lead to conduct numerous transfers of liquid bulk chemicals from tank cars to tank trucks each day.
• Demonstrate the highest commitment to “zero occurrences” by assisting the Operations Manager in implementing and leading the Safety, Health and Environmental efforts at the operation.
• Build and maintain strong customer and operator relationships, and proactively identify ways to improve efficiency and service.
• Support operations leadership through all phases of the hiring process, including telephone screening, onsite interviews, documentation/paperwork, and onboarding.
• Exhibit leadership qualities with the ability to solve problems and make decisions both individually and in a team environment.
• Work with lead supervisor in daily facility maintenance, and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on schedule.

• Manage, maintain, and elevate customer relationships.

Education/Experience:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising or managing crews.
• MSHA experience and exposure a plus but not required.
• Prior experience in Transload bulk hazardous materials a plus but not required.
• Experience in general maintenance or mechanic skills and repair (Preferred).
• Boiler Experience (Preferred).
• Ability to hands-on learn all aspects of the transload process.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
