Community Eye Care Specialists is seeking an upbeat, high-energy, friendly, enthusiastic individual to join our amazing team as a full-time ophthalmic technician in Jamestown, NY and Dunkirk, NY, to play an integral part in what we're all about—helping people see! In this role, you'll be assisting the Ophthalmologist and Optometrist with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including, but not limited to, intraocular pressures, basic motility, visual fields, A-SCAN ultrasonography and fundus photography.
- Maintains well detailed completed charts prepared for Doctors.
- Assist the Doctors during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including instrumentation, sterile preparation, and documentation.
- Administers topical medications or diagnostic drugs as required by the Doctor for testing or treatment.
- Prepare and position patient for diagnostic tests and procedures
- Assist the Doctor with patient education pertaining to the treatment prescribed.
- Maintains instruments or equipment.
- Measures distance and near visual acuity using appropriate tests.
- Analyze spectacles using a lensometer and knowing the difference between single vision, bifocal, trifocal, or progressive lenses.
- Handles Equipment properly in office and traveling.
- Assist in other areas in the office when needed including but not limited too, reception, billing, and optical prn.
- Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories.
