THE POSITION: OUTREACH AND SPECIAL EVENTS ASSISTANT

Hours: Full Time. 40 hours/week, weekends and weekdays

Hourly Rate: $20.50 - $21.00/ hr

As an Outreach and Special Events Assistant within the Development Department at the world renowned Helen Woodward Animal Center, you will have the opportunity to assist with special events, fundraise and manage key programs including Pets Without Walls, Lewyt Mobile Pet Health, Business Buddies and Coins for Critters (see our website for detailed descriptions of these programs).

As a key member of our Development team, you will also gain experience cultivating & maintaining professional relationships with donors, managing social media, visiting various outreach sites and educating members of our local community about all that we do for the animals and people we serve.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 21 years of age w/ California Driver's License.

College Degree required

Ability to persuasively present and interpret the mission, goals, and programs of the Center to prospective donors through written and oral communication.

Solid understanding of the laws and legal requirements relating to fundraising.

Professionalism, tact, courtesy, and integrity, in dealing with the Center's donors and prospects. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail highly desirable.

Ability to work in both a team, as well as a self-directed environment.

High energy, positive attitude and the ability to multi-task strongly desired.

Some animal handling experience preferred and ability to work with dogs/puppies or cats/kittens as required.

Employee must demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

WORK CONDITIONS:

75% of this job is conducted indoors under normal office conditions and 25% outdoors.

Helen Woodward Animal Center is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is not permitted in any HWAC building or vehicle.
